HomeAway is seeking a Media Solutions Finance Analyst to be part of our commercial finance team at its headquarters in Austin, Texas. This team is a part of the worldwide Financial Planning & Analysis organization. This role reports to the Commercial Finance Manager based in Austin. Commercial finance’s charge is to provide for a common language and data driven hypotheses, which can be validated through a test and learn approach to enable actionable analytical insights, influencing faster and better business decisions.

The commercial finance team plays a global role supporting our retail business organization, local markets, and global cost areas. The commercial organization is charged with maximizing revenues through diligent investments which have most optimal return to the business. The commercial finance team leads and manages the global weekly trading meeting and revenue pacing analysis, monthly business review of contribution margins, quarterly forecasting, and annual planning. The team is also responsible for in-quarter management and evaluation of risks/opportunities, creation of commercial financial targets, and analysis to support financial trade offs across regions and lines of business for optimal return.

This Media Solutions analyst will be accountable for understanding, trending, forecasting and reporting on the Global Advertising business and provide insights and optimization tactics designed to improved performance and enhance revenue generation. This entails deep analysis of demand and pricing/commission rates, across multiple geographies to accurately predict advertising revenue. This role requires the ability to efficiently mine, analyze and build agile financial models fed by large volumes of data. Pacing and predicting revenues on a weekly basis, from provided demand forecast will be a key activity. Tracking trends at a brand, customer, and product level to drive high levels of accuracy in forecasts is a must. The incumbent will also conduct monthly price/volume/mix analysis across regions, brands & channels to discover and communicate value creation actions to the retail team for their execution.

The Role & Expectations:- HomeAway and this group are very fast paced and require an incredible amount of agility, calm and focused under pressure, speed without sacrificing accuracy, and an innate sense of prioritizing.
- Primary FP&A partner to the VP of Global Advertising, ensuring best of class financial processes and accounting standards
- The candidate will collaborate globally and cross functionally with the regional finance teams, product teams, retail teams, and business intelligence. Effective communications skills, both verbal and written, are crucial.
- Develop a deep understanding of our retail metrics and how the business really works, in order to impact those metrics. Use this understanding to identify, analyze and communicate current trends and, most importantly, their impact on forward looking financial forecasts. This will be accomplished through deep knowledge of our products and traveler demand behavior.
- Mine and work very comfortably and efficiently with large volumes of data, both in Tableau and Excel, optimizing file performance through a variety of technical tools such as Visual Basic, SQL and the like.
- Provide accurate and actionable advertising data/forecasts to global retail team for use in weekly forecasting and trading processes.
- Liaise with accounting and FP&A peers to ensure media revenue results and forecasts are reflected and messaged appropriately
- Understand geographical and customer segment mix implications and illustrate financial sensitivities of each to the retail team.

Candidate Qualifications:- Demonstrated success in a fast-paced environment with the ability to accept changing priorities and focus, while remaining balanced and producing quality output.
- Proven experience utilizing advanced Excel and basic statistics skills to solve business problems and statistical significance in a repeatable and sustainable form, leveraging tools including regression, goal seek, standard deviation, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate diligently, in both verbal and written forms, with executive management and peer groups.
- Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills with an aptitude for learning quickly.
- Demonstrated ability to distill complex, detailed data into an executive level story applying appropriate judgement based upon the audience.
- Sustained experience with financial ERPs or other OLAP based financial planning software such as Hyperion, Prophix, or Adaptive
- Basic understanding of accounting processes and concepts including USGAAP
- Intermediate level SQL and basic visual basic coding skills are preferred
- Bachelor’s in Finance,Math, Statistics or Economics with 4-6 years of related progressive experience, or a master’s degree with 2-4 years of work experience

The HomeAway World Headquarters is located in downtown Austin, Texas. The office space is also situated off of Lady Bird Lake, which has a fantastic hike and bike trail. HomeAway's four-story, 86,000-square-foot, mixed-use building was awarded Gold-level LEED certification in April 2010 for its use of eco-friendly materials. The design is vacation-themed and features a giant replica of the birdhouse from the HomeAway logo.
