Business Intelligence Analyst at Amherst InsightLabs
Join Amherst as a Business Intelligence Analyst to evaluate real estate and market data for our single family residential capital platform. Over the last four years, this platform has raised over $3 billion of capital and acquired of ~12,000 single family homes across the United States. This role will be responsible for mining and analyzing mission critical data and applying analysis to data visualization reports that are used to further grow the business and influence investment decisions.

Responsibilities:
  • Data mining and analytical projects as assigned by program executives, with the goal of identifying and optimizing real estate investment opportunities in U.S. single family housing.
  • Tackle complex business problems by converting raw data into meaningful and actionable business ideas.
  • Collaborate directly with peers and business leaders to transform ideas into actions.
  • Utilize MS SQL Server for extraction and analysis of data from multiple sources with demonstrated ability to perform analysis, decipher, trend and effectively report data.
  • Run complex SQL queries and develop reports using Tableau or Excel for internal and external customers.
  • Leverage analytic problem-solving skills in working with large data sets from a variety of internal and external sources to identify market opportunities and report current investment operational metrics.
  • Support and maintain other recurring reporting processes within the Single Family Residential team.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Finance, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science or related quantitative discipline required.
  • 1-3 years’ experience analyzing data, drawing conclusions and making recommendations; consulting or financial services industry experience is a plus.
  • Strong SQL query writing ability. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and T-SQL syntax preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with data visualization/business intelligence tools. Experience with Tableau a plus.
  • Experience with creating and presenting management dashboards and reports.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL concepts. Experience building/supporting ETL processes using tools like SSIS is a plus.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages is a plus (e.g. VBA, VB.NET, Python, R etc.).
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Analytical mindset, fast moving, entrepreneurial.
  • Passion for gleaning insights from raw data.
